ELECTION CERTIFIED

Bipartisan State Canvassing Board certifiies 2018 General Election results, two close State legislature races will be recounted. Recounts will be performed per state law because the margin between candidates was less than one percent. Districts 20, 22, and 63 are expected to recount.

AZTEC SPARKLES

Sparkles committee announces a Petting Zoo, and Mini Carnival have been added to the festivities, all of which are FREE! Also, San Juan College Orchestra will perform at the Tree Lighting, and the AHS Marching Drum Corps will perform in the Sparkles Parade.

COMMUNITY DINNER

The Annual Aztec Community Thanksgiving Dinner was hosted at the Aztec Senior Community Center on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22nd, to above average crowds. Local volunteers and sponsors stepped up and made it happen for everyone despite the unplanned crowd. TALON sources attribute the outsize attendance to (non-fake) media coverage.

COMMISSION CANCELS

The Aztec City Commission Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, December 25, 2018 will be Cancelled . There will be one Commission meeting for December which will be held on Tuesday, December 11th @ 6:00pm at Aztec City Hall, 201 W. Chaco, Aztec.

HOLIDAY LIGHTS CONTEST

City of Aztec brings back a new and improved Holiday Lighting contest this season ! The Public is invited to come visit a local business, grab a ballot and vote for your favorite business and private home holiday decorations. Winners announced each week in TALON, Commercial and Residential winners each receive $250 utility credit and an Aztec Sparkles Lighting Plaque., and will be featured in TALON. Get your spirit on and join in the fun!

DIABETES PREVENTION

People at risk of developing type 2 diabetes are invited to join a free, year-long lifestyle program being offered as part of Mercy Regional Medical Center’s Diabetes Prevention Program. Attend the information session Saturday, Dec. 1, from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the Durango Public Library, 1900 E. Third Ave. RSVP by calling 970-764-3999.
