Young Audiences Thrilled

The Connie Gotsch Arts Foundation (CGAF) presented a concert/assembly program at Park Ave Elementary school on September 11th at 9:00 and 10:00 AM for students in grade 4-6. The purpose of the program is to introduce and demonstrate to the students the fine arts possibilities open to them in the 6th, 7th and 8th grade. The effort brought 15 performers to the school; musicians, dancers, painters and poets in a lively, student centered arts program. For this presentation all the artists and performers came from Farmington and were sponsored by the CGAF. Each program is about 45-50 minutes long.

In the fall of 2017, CGAF began a new “Young Audience” program which presented 10 educational concerts to 4th and 5th grade students in all the Farmington public schools. The concerts use local musicians, artists, poets and dancers in a program designed to introduce students to classical music and the symphonic instruments, as well as poetry, dance and painting. This school year, the Young Audience program will visit schools in Aztec, Bloomfield and Kirtland, NM, and will be returning to the Farmington schools in 2019-20. Hopefully this program will create a new generation of musicians, dancers, artists, and concert goers.
