by Jacque Ritchie, TALON

Local angler Faron Hengst of Aztec has done it again. "It's definitly the biggest rainbow I've ever caught," said Hengst. Recently, Hengst and his wife, Angela were vacationing at Hatcher Lake near Pagosa Springs, Colorado when he landed this 28 inch nine pound rainbow trout. An avid fly-fishman Hengst was using a hand-tied black wooley bugger and his trusty fly-road, "Hatcher is one of my favorite lakes to go to. It's a 'trophy lake' you hardly ever catch anything under 20 inches." According to Hengst the local Game Warden Larry Lynch said, "It's the record for 2018, its definitly the biggest out of this lake all year." Did Angela serve up the prize for dinner? "Oh no, I am an total catch-and-release kind of guy. I never keep them."
