The stands were packed with fans for game 5 in a 15 game schedule at Tiger Arena at Koogler Middle School on Tuesday November 6. The JV squad started the night out with a 13 to 5 victory over Farmington. The score may have been low but enthusiasm ran high and the Lady Tigers led by Coach Cory Zuniga refused to give in against the hard-fighting Hawks.

Both middle school varsity teams were introduced by veteran sports announcer, Koogler Vice- Principal and Athletics and Activities Director Eric Arpelar. Varsity Coach Gary Zuniga urged his players to, "Play hard and play good 'D.'" The Lady Tigers have a great passing game and communication but seem a little timid when it comes to shooting, with 2:25 left in the first period the score was just 4-0 Tigers. Lady Tiger Reazon Ellis wearing #23 is a player to watch this season, she lofted a couple side-of-the-key shots in, nothing but net, just as pretty as you please. Also keep an eye on #13 Cataya Moffet who has a magical outside fall-away jump-shot.

Busy Koogler Principal Jessica Sledzinski stopped by the game before a PTA meeting and told TALON, the experience of playing team sports is a useful life-lesson, "It is so important for these kids to learn teamwork and communication skills, especially at this age. As adults none of us work as individuals, we must learn to work as a team to be successful in life, it is an extremely important lesson. And it's just a great feeling to be part of something."

Parents shouted encouragement and advice as the scrappy Tigers and Hawks gals faced-off in a rather physical contest. Referees Billie Shimaya and Leonard Neil had their hands full calling for jump-balls and some personal fouls as the players mixed-things-up on the court. After four hard fought periods of play the Lady Tigers won the day with a score of 23-11. The Lady Tigers face Tibbets on Friday, November 9 at Tiger Arena, Game starts at 4:00
