Friday Night Lights -

Tigers Vs Bobcats 11.02.18

by Jessica Selph, TALON

Every team seems to have that one opponent that they just have to beat, a hometown rivalry if you will. For Aztec that team is the Bloomfield Bobcats. It's been that way ever since I can remember so this Friday's game was a big one where the Tigers traveled to Bobcat's stadium for the final game of district play. As usual, the Tigers started strong ending the first quarter with a 7-0 lead. By half time the game was tied at 7-7 and remained the same through the end of the third quarter. Going into the fourth quarter Aztec drives the ball for a 90 yard touchdown but is matched with a Bobcat touchdown on the next play, keeping the score tied at 14-14. With the remainder of the quarter, Bobcats pull ahead by two touchdowns with the Tigers blocking one extra point but they are not able to make it into the endzone again. Final score is 27-14 with Bloomfield taking the win.

Going into state playoffs Tigers take the 9th seed and will be traveling to Ruidoso on Saturday, November 10th for game one of the single elimination class 4A bracket.
