"I just like to help people," said Delain George. A Glenwood, Colorado native, George moved here with her husband when he became the city's electric department director. George started her 18 year tenure with the city as an administrative assistant to the city manager. Now she's the MVD/Utility Business Office Director.

As such, she oversees utility billing, meter reading, and the MVD office. She helps people through the process of getting a business or a liquor license, or to reserve one of the city's parks.

When asked what her favorite part of her job is, George answered, "I like the people." She expanded on her answer and said she likes both her customers and her co-workers. "I work with an awesome staff. If it weren't for them we wouldn't be so good."

MVD has the reputation of being a dreadful place. George wants Aztec MVD to be different. She said people are more than a number to them at Aztec MVD. "We want the customers to come back and so we get to know them by name," adding that it's easier to do that in a city like Aztec. "That's what's nice about a small community."
