The stands began filling up early on Thursday October 25, for volleyball's final homegame at AHS between the Lady Tigers and Shiprock's Lady Chieftans. Led by Coach Vanessa Chavez, the C-Team set the pace for the evening taking the victory in two sets. The first set was a real nail-biter with the lead changing hands several times before capturing the win with a score of 25-23 Coach Chavez urged her gals to, "Try to anticipate the offense and keep on doin what you are doin...because you are doing great." The Tigers gals 'brought it' in the second set for a decisive 25-18 win bringing their record to (?) on the year.

Led by Coach Ericah Boyd the JV Lady Tiger took the court at around 5 p.m. Both teams were full of chatter during the first set with the Lady Tigers slamming their way to a 25-17 victory. The second set saw a lot of long rally's with some great 'D' that led to some hard-won points on both sides. The crowd, including a large raucous contingent from Shiprock definitely elevated the intensity of play. Our Tiger's were not communicating for some reason and it felt like the pressure might be getting to them. Finally the Tiger's fell to the Lady Chief's 20-25. Undaunted, the JV squad jumped out to an early 5-1 lead in set 3 with Coach Boyd trying to maintain the momentum. Although the Chief's possess serious offensive skills, Lady Tiger #2 Elissia Archuleta is a total control freak (with a capital EAK!) at the net. Archuleta is a dangerous defender with a devastatingly accurate tip, she just seems to put the ball where ever she wants to. Tiger momentum, confidence and energy won the day with 15-10 final giving the Lady Tigers the 2-1 victory on the night.

Varsity girls face-off in Lillywhite Gym before over 200 folks. Wearing #15 Senior Cheyenne Toldeo's powerhouse serve leads Tiger gals to an early 4-1 lead. The noise level rose to cacophonous as the Tiger's enjoy a comfortable lead 12-6 lead. Senior Reigan Weaver is a the teams obvious stand-out at six-foot-two she is a force at the net spiking the ball at will. with every successful attack the team stomps the collective foot and shouts "Boom Baby!" Girls volleyball is nothing if not fast paced and the Lady Tiger took the first set 25-18. A definite go-to-girl at the net is, Sophomore Carley Smith playing Opposite Hitter. At five-11 Smith is long on attitude, she is a strong sturdy hitter with great follow through. Set 2 Tiger's came out on top 25-20. Eet 3 was a contentious battle. A rally late in the game brought both benches and the crowd to it's feet tying the game 23-23. A couple misplaced serves cost the Tiger gals the set Lady Chief's winning 23-25. Between games Head Coach Anna Strauss told her team, "Stay up be positive, get a pass and keep those serves!" The Lady Tiger regained their composure in set with Weaver slamming three unanswered spikes in the clutch to win the match 25-18. Varsity Lady Tiger shine going 3-1 for the night,
