VETS PARADE

Aztec’s annual Veterans Day Parade is officially scheduled for Saturday, November 10th in Downtown Aztec. The organizers want to extend the invitation to all bands, cars, trucks, motorcycles, 4-H clubs, sports teams, JROTC Squads, and Equine Clubs. Sponsored by Aztec VFW Post 614.

GET OUT AND VOTE

It’s the only influence you have on our politicians, please get out and VOTE November 6th. Early voting has begun as of October 20th, state wide. Be heard, Exercise your right to choose the right person for the job, for the community.

ROBOTS IN DEMOCRACY

According to reports, up to 23% of social media activity following the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting this weekend were Robots. TALON extends prayers for the families and survivors of this sad event.

VOTER TURNOUT

According to reports to TALON from NM Secretary of State’s office, Voter Turnout for San Juan County as of 10/30 were: 4091 Total votes cast; 1418 were Absentee, and 12,232 cast in person. So that’s about 10% of the county making the important choices for everyone. VOTE: 2018 General Election Day, Tuesday, November 6, 2018, 7 AM - 7 PM.

CHACO LEASE SALE

BLM recently reduced the public input period on lease sales, cutting the public input period from 30 days down to 10 days in a display of contempt for the democratic process. In spite of this change, on the Halloween deadline, more than a dozen community members delivered over 10,000 protest comments relating to the hundred thousand acre auction of Chaco Canyon public lands. Each comment receiving a required timestamp by BLM personnel.
