Friday September 7th promised to be a long day for the Aztec Tiger football boys. They were to travel four hours up and four hours back to battle the Taos Tigers on their home field. The rise in elevation, a long journey and the cold wind along with a solid opponent proved too much for the boys. The Taos Tigers started strong with a touchdown in the first 5 minutes of play and the hits just kept coming. #22 Javier Valenzuela suffered a season ending break to his collar bone while play was stopped multiple times with Aztec injuries. With some admitted flaws in our defensive game and an offense that couldn't quite measure up we ended the night with a 63-27 loss to the Taos Tigers. Although the loss was tough Coach Stienfeldt remains confident that we will make a comeback, it's still early in the season. Tigers are now 1-2 with Farmington High coming up next for Homecoming.
