On July 26th in Albuquerque, Dr. Warman Hall, principal of Aztec High School, felt overwhelmed as he received the plaque declaring him the New Mexico Principal of the Year. All he could think to say to the crowd was that he was accepting the award on behalf of the district. "I really view it as an outcome of the hard work and teamwork that the staff and administration team did last semester in holding the school together after our tragedy in December," explained Dr. Hall. He also views the award as a chance to advocate for student voice and safety.

As the State Principal of the year, Dr. Hall is part of group of 53 principals recognized by the National Association of Secondary School Principals. As such, he has the chance to attend conferences and workshops in Washington D.C. this September. Dr. Hall hopes to speak to New Mexico Senators and Congressmen in D.C.

And the plaque he received? He hasn't had time to hang it up yet.
