At the Tuesday City Commission meeting, the commissioners approved the Red Apple Transit Agreement. Since 2003, Aztec has partnered with Farmington to connect the two cities through Red Apple buses. According to the new agreement that begins October 1 and ends September 30, 2019, Aztec will pay Farmington $19,750 to continue to run five buses daily Monday-Friday, and three buses on Saturday, to and through Aztec.

When she heard Wednesday about the approval of the agreement, Farmington resident Erma said "I'm really grateful." She and her son Jeff often ride the bus between Farmington and Aztec so they can run errands. They've watched who else rides. Jeff laughed as he told of meeting several Aztec kids who rode the Red Apple to their high school in Farmington. Erma has noticed a woman who regularly rides the bus to and from work at an Aztec preschool.

While the agreement does have a termination clause, travelers can expect Red Apple buses to continue to service Aztec for another year.
