Ritchie Arviso, Ivan Lee, Dexter Decker, and Luke Paul, four childhood friends known as Street Art from the Heart, painted the mural on the D.C. Ball building last Saturday.

Arviso, said they're calling the painting the "Aztec Community Mural." Two local businesses heard about the project and donated or loaned supplies for the four artists to use.

Decker, who works as a mining equipment mechanic in La Plata, loved having "another opportunity to come paint" and to "support the community."

Paul, whose favorite color is purple, said he felt good about working on the mural and that he liked putting a "positive on a negative situation."

Lee, a full time commission artist said "I like to do memorials; donate my time and skill."

Finally, Arviso, responsible for the giant tiger that growls from the middle of the mural, said it felt good to do the project because a lot of people wanted and were excited about it. Some locals even came and added their handprints to the border on Saturday.

After completion, it was decided that the mural needed to be adjusted, so part of it was blacked out. Arviso will return later to fix that area.

Paul said, "Art brings people together, and brings out the best in people." This was true on Saturday, and hopefully in the future.
