According to Marilyn Montoya, about half a century ago, restaurants were closed on Mother's Day. So the Farmington Evening Lions club started their annual pancake breakfast. While it remains an annual event, the dates vary. This year's breakfast was the Saturday of Father's Day weekend. Club Treasurer Donna Talley said they raised about $4,000. One is the New Mexico Kid Sight program which screens elementary children for eye problems, and helps their parents find solutions if a problem is found. The other is Brookside Waterpark.
