AHS alumni Aubrey Folk (class of 2015) is headed to Croatia to play volleyball before an international audience. But before taking off Folk stopped by TALON to say, hey! Currently a senior at Fresno State majoring in Kinesiology-Sports Administration, Folk was selected by coaches out of hundreds of players for one of the 12 team slots. Fresno State is part of the Mountain West Conference and will compete against the English National Team and Northumbria (a disputed earldom between England and Scotland) in the first round of the tournament. The tournament is scheduled for July 6-15. "I am honored to represent Fresno State...and very excited to have the opportunity for this experience."

At six-foot-three Folk plays right center and advises aspiring athletes, "Competing at a college level is difficult, the whole process balancing classes and everything is not easy but I encourage kids to pursue their dreams no matter how hard it gets because it's worth it in the end."

As for the future Folk is weighing her options, "I might play professionally overseas eventually, right now I'm considering pursuing my masters."

All of us at TALON want to wish Folk good luck and safe travels and urge folks to stop by and visit her parents Angela and Daniel Folk owners of Brue Cafe at Navajo Dam Marina.

CORRECTION: Angela and Daniel are not "owners" of the Brue Cafe, they are the "operators". Also, Angela's last name is Folk- , the parents are not married. - J.R.S.
