6th Annual Matthew Bardwell Memorial Scholarship Fund (MBMSF) AHS Alumni Baseball Game.

Play ball! That’s what will be heard on Saturday, June 9th, 2018 @ 7:00 pm which will kick off the 6th annual AHS Alumni Baseball Game (AHS baseball field). The alumni game was the idea of local attorney Ryan Lane who was a classmate of Matthew Bardwell for whose memory the scholarship fund is named. Multiple Class of 2000 AHS graduates who were classmates of Matt’s make this event happen annually. “It takes a lot of planning, and we are blessed to have these kids, (now adults with families of their own), in our lives;” according to Matt’s mom Tracie Grace.

Matt attended Aztec schools until his freshman year when he lost his life to leukemia. He was a stellar student and had plans of attending college. MBMSF was created in his honor and has helped numerous AHS graduates offset college expenses over the years. The fund is a New Mexico non-profit 501c3; all donations are tax deductible.

Each year we recruit more alumni players, which is the goal. “Our vision is to have all the alumni players to be announced and on the field prior to the game; whether or not they pay to play in the game” said Ryan Lane. The more participation we have in the game, the greater our turnout. This fundraiser is our largest and helps to fund the scholarships we give out each year to AHS graduates. This year, we were able to award another three scholarships totaling $4500. This year’s recipients are: Maddisson Pavey, Dylan Olson, and Brandon McReynolds.
