With the higher than average temperatures, it's starting to feel more like hot summer days than spring. This week, a new bicycle shop opens its doors on Main Avenue in Aztec. Congratulations and Welcome to Matthew and Mandy Snow, proprietors of the new Alien Bike Shop. Welcome to our town of six old soreheads and the much boasted about Aztec hiking and bike trails and terrain. The Alien Bike Shop had a soft opening on Monday May 7th and has seen a positive amount of foot traffic throughout the first week. Before opening the doors to the public, the bike shop recently sponsored the 20th annual Alien Run Mountain Bike Race organized by Aztec Trails and Open Space - ATOS, that was held on Saturday May 5th.

With an unmistakable aroma of new rubber tires, the bike racks are filled with new mountain, road, commuter, kids, and BMX bikes. They offer sales and services with options of layaways, rentals, a trade-in program and the array of bike brands from Electra, Sunday Bikes, and TREK. The shop carries clothing, parts, and accessories from Bontrager cycling brand, and offers bike repairs and customization.

The store manager, Josh Snow, and residence of Aztec, talked energetically about his recent volunteered time in setting up and bringing back the ATOS pump track at Aztec's Riverside Park. Garrett Farmer, the assistant manager and resident of Farmington, finished off the interview by saying, "we always hear everyone throughout the county saying that there is nothing to do here, ... we always have something to do, we are lucky to live in an area like Aztec and the terrains it offers, and we hope that we can help people see that there is a lot to do here".

As the end of the school year approaches for the Four Corners, Alien Bike Shop wants to encourage locals to engage in their community by attending a weekly neighborhood bike ride every Thursday starting from the shop at 6:15PM.
