AHS FOOTBALL PLAYERS

GO “DOWN UNDER”

Six Aztec High senior football players have been selected to par- ticipate in the 2nd Annual New Mexico Australia Gridiron Ex- change. Jason Smith, Ladell Light, Jeremiah Grace, Jeric Sona, Eric Hoots and Kit Cornish will travel to the “land down under” for an ex- citing cultural and educational ex- change. 83 football players and 12 cheerleaders representing 23 communities throughout the state will participate. Gridiron Exchange 94 will take place in Brisbane and the Gold Coast of Australia.

When she lived on her grand- parent’s farm back in the early 1950’s, Shirley McNall recalls see- ing UFO’s on more than one occa- sion flying down the Animas River Valley. “They would come down the the river and would remind me of silver leaves, they would flutter while over the river,” McNall said. ON March 25, 1948 a UFO was detected by three separate radar units units in the southwest. On May 23-25 1998 the Aztec Public Library will be holding a sympo- sium celebrating the 50th anniversary UFO crash in Aztec.

BICYCLE EXPRESS

Our universe is constantly expanding outward. In the cosmos, stars live and die. At the outer edge of a distant galaxy a black hole is sucking everything around it into a gravitational abyss.

Meanwhile back on planet Earth, humanoids with bicycles converged on the historic town of Aztec, New Mexico for the sixth annual running of the Alien Bicycle race.

Each year the carbon based life forms ace past the alleged UFO crash site with two purposes in mind- first to see who’s the fastest bicycle rider, and second to raise money for the Aztec Public Library.

A little girl asked her mother, “how did the human race appear?” The mother answered, “God made Adam and Eve and they had chil- dren and so all mankind made.” Two days later the asked her fa- ther the same question. The father answered “Many years ago there were monkeys from which the hu- mans evolved.” the confused girl returned to her mother and said, “Mom, how it is possible that you told me the human race was cre- ated by God, and Dad said they developed from monkeys?” The mother answered, “Well, dear, it is very simple. I told you about my side of the family and your father you about about his.”

CINDY WINS PRESTIGIOUS

COSTUME CONTEST

Cindy Iacovetto loves being creative and at the Starfest conven- tion Denver Her creativity paid off when she honored with a 1st place win in the ingle fantasy division in their costume competition this April. This win was no small feat. Thousands of people flock to Denver for the convention and over 80 of those people entered the cos- tume contest in hopes of winning. This years convention theme was “ The Robot Invasion.” With that in mind Cindy came up with an idea for a female robot costume. The Robot’s name was Robusta Rita.
