Senior Center Happenings

The Senior Center Garden will be gearing up in late April. We will be prepping the garden for the May planting. Please contact the senior center if you would like to be involved in the garden this year.

Spare Change Jars are out in the community at these locations: Big R, Farmer’s Market, Sonya’s, Roadside, Panda Garden, and Ace Hardware. This spare change is used to help Bloomfield families in need at the holiday times. Please be generous and the jars do accept paper money as well as coins!!

Volunteers are always appreciated at the Bloomfield Senior Center. We need people to help meal delivery drivers, kitchen help, garden help, and more. Call or come by the center and see how you can help out your community. Perks include a homemade, yummy lunch and a membership to the Bloomfield Fitness Center (depending on number of hours volunteering), and lots of laughter! 632-8351

Monetary donations for the Bloomfield Senior Center are always welcome. Donations will go towards the food program, utility assistance for seniors, trips and entertainment, scholarships for local high school seniors, and much more. Donations are tax-deductible and may be mailed or dropped off at the senior center, 124 West Ash, Bloomfield, NM 87413 or dropped off at the main City building at 915 N. 1st Street. Help us to support older adults throughout San Juan County. We greatly appreciate your help and support.

The Helmets for Homeless program is located at the Bloomfield Senior Center. We take bicycles in good working order and gift them to folks who may need them for transportation purposes. We take child and adult bikes as well as helmets, safety clothing, bike locks, etc. Bicycles must be ready to ride. If you would like to donate your bicycle and/or bicycling articles, please contact Jessica at 632-8351. We can also come and pick them up. The Helmets for Homeless Program is part of the Committee for Health Equity. Receipts for donated bikes may be given out for tax purposes.

Articles needed at the Bloomfield Senior Center Include:

Yarn for community knitting projects, Dog biscuits for our home delivery, 4-legged companions, Dry food items such as pinto beans, pasta, brown rice, etc.

If you have any of these articles or anything else you think the center may be interested in, please contact Jessica at the Senior Center—632-8351.
