The four wonderful speakers spoke to the group on School Safety; they gave amazing insight into the many years and hard work that the County, Cities and School Districts have had to go through to work together. They now have improvement in the form of communication and training to help save lives if an incident should occur. They work with San Juan Regional Medical Center and the EMS to get survives to medical care quicker.

This group is also currently working with churches and business to help those citizen groups become more aware and proactive in hoping to prevent a tragedy to occur in San Juan County.

Last Week, Dan Engert donated $1,100 to the Rio del Sol Kiwanis $600 for Clothes for Kids and $500 for Shoes for Kids. Thanks Dan.

The African Library Project:

Hi Everyone, Rio del Sol Kiwanis is collecting gently used elementary, middle school, and high school reading books for the Kiwanis African Library Project in Malawi, Africa. We are working towards collecting 1,000 books by the end of May.  Ryan Mussett is the chairman for the project.  Farmington High Key Club has collected over 150 books and have more that haven’t been picked up. Aztec Key Club has collected 50 books and will be turning in more soon.  Piedra Vista soccer teams and the tennis teams are collecting also. Haz Said has collected a lot of books from Friends of the Durango Library.  We have reached 25%of our goal!  Please bring to Kiwanis at noon on Thursdays or contact me at 860-5165 and I will come by and collect.
