On March 15th – 17th, 2018 Aztec High School Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA, once FHA) went to Albuquerque, NM for state conference and competition. During the three days the members were involved with a national motivational guest speaker, a meeting to prepare the competitors for their competitions and delegate meetings to elect the next New Mexico FCCLA State Officers. For an FCCLA member to make it to nationals, a member must place first or second at state with a score of seventy or above on the detailed, judge scored, rubric. The Aztec High School FCCLA will be sending two young ladies, Dasha Barns, competing in Recycle and Redesign and Johanna Limback, competing in Environmental Ambassador to nationals in Atlanta Georgia, June 27th – July 2nd, 2018. The other Aztec High School FCCLA members placed well at state and did an outstanding job in their competitions, as well. Kaitty Fields, Arriana Candelaria, Azucena Tapia placed 2nd in Life Event Planning, Chris Maez placed 2nd in Recycle and Redesign, Jesse Smith placed 3rd in Food Innovations, and Jensen Campbell placed 3rd in Interior Design. The week was very rewarding for all involved. If you have any questions or would like to donate in helping our Aztec High School FCCLA members get to Nationals please email: Lanea Donahoo at [email protected] or call 505-334-9414 ext. 1374.
