Brad Goode to Play 19th Annual Jazz Festival



The San Juan College Jazz Big Band will be backing up special guest trumpeter Brad Goode to highlight the 19th annual Jazz Festival on Friday, April 6, at 7 p.m., in the Henderson Fine Arts Center Performance at San Juan College.

The College Jazz Big Band, led by Adjunct Instructor of Music Delbert Anderson will perform a variety of pieces including Impressions by John Contrane. The band will perform Blue by Bobby Shew and Cold Duck Time by Eddie Harris, featuring Goode. Canadian vocalist Rhonda Head will perform The Girl From Ipanema by Antonio Carlos Jobim.

Goode has appeared as a lead trumpeter with many big bands and symphony orchestras. His 15 solo recordings that can be heard on the Delmark, Sunlight, SteepleChase, and Origin labels. He is a unique and instantly recognizable virtuoso. Whether working as a soloist, bandleader, lead trumpet man or sideman, he is consistently one of the busiest performers in the United States.

There will be a clinic at 12 p.m. noon for anyone interested, especially middle school and high school students attending the festival. There will be a jam session featuring Goode beginning at 9 p.m., at Clancy's Irish Pub & Grill. Both of these events are free and open to the public.

Tickets for the Jazz Fest are $18 for adults, $15 for students, and $12 for seniors and children 12 and under. Tickets are available online at sanjuancollege.edu/silhouette. For further information or to purchase tickets in person, contact the San Juan College Box Office at 505-566-3430.
