Dual Credit Parent Nights

Did you know that your teen can begin college while still in high school? Find out how at one of three Dual Credit Parent Nights. The first event is Tuesday, April 3 at 6 p.m. at San Juan College East located at 315 S. Ash Street in Aztec. The second event is Tuesday, April 10 at 6 p.m. at the San Juan College Henderson Fine Arts Center, room 9008 and the last event is Tuesday, April 17 at San Juan College West Campus in room 115, 69 County Road 6500 in Kirtland.

The Dual Credit Program at San Juan College allows eligible junior or senior high students from Bureau of Indian Education (BIE), private, home-schooled and public high schools to enroll in San Juan College courses. Students receive high school core and academic elective credit as well as college credit for the courses taken.

Through the Dual Credit Program, the cost of tuition is covered by the students’ high school through the State of New Mexico. Students who complete Dual Credit courses will receive high school credit, meet high school graduation requirements and any credits earned are eligible to transfer to other universities throughout the country.

With more than 400 Dual Credit classes to choose from, high school students can explore career possibilities all while saving time and money by earning high school and college credits at the same time.

The meetings are open to all San Juan County parents of high school students, as well as high school students. The presentation is expected to last 30 minutes with a question and answer session to follow. Refreshments will be served.
