Rebekah Lodge Meeting


At the last gathering of members from Hope Rebekah Lodge #12 and San Juan #11 they met jointly for a very nice dinner at the Outback Steak House on Feb. 19th, followed by a business meeting. This was a special occasion besides having good food and good service, Leona Eubanks, President of the Rebekah Assembly of New Mexico, came to our area to make her official visit. Leona is from the Lovington area and is traveling the State to visit with all Rebekah Lodges in New Mexico. Others in attendance were International Association of Rebekah Assemblies Officer, Carolyn Schaffer, NM Rebekah Assembly Vice President, Dessie Everett, Assembly Secretary, D'Elva Emert, District #1 Deputy President, Bessie Gherardini and two-time Past Assembly President, Doris Felkner. Leona talked about the group fundraiser for the year.The big subject is our growing membership and Leona was heading down to Albuquerque the next day for a meeting where the Rebekah Lodges were Initiating new members. Also, there is going to be an initiation in Alamogordo, March 24th when all the members of the Rebekah Assembly and Grand Lodge meet for a Mid-Term session.

The Daughters of Rebekah, also known as the Rebekahs and the International Association of Rebekah Assemblies, is an international service-oriented organization and a branch of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. Members must be 16-18 years or older, believe in a Supreme Being, Creator and Preserver of the Universe, and be faithful to their Country. Rebekah's exhibit the true principles of Odd Fellowship which are Friendship, Love, and Truth.
