Calling All Teachers!

New Opportunities at Aztec Ruins


Supporting local teachers and connecting students with nature are goals of the National Park Service’s second century of service. This spring, Aztec Ruins National Monument will be hosting several resources for teachers and field trips.

Fourth Grade Field Trip Grant. A National Parks Foundation grant for “International Archeology Days for Kids” field trip activities will be available during April and May 2018. Grant funds are available for fourth grade classrooms to reimburse travel expenses, provide a tasty “Stratigraphic Profile Pudding Cup” post-activity for teachers, and provide lunch for classrooms from Title 1 schools. Summer 2018 - ATTENTION ALL K-12 TEACHERS IN SAN JUAN, LA PLATA, AND MONTEZUMA COUNTIES: Aztec Ruins National Monument is pleased to present a unique funding opportunity for K-12 teachers! The Monument is looking for eight K-12 teachers to create new educational activities about Aztec Ruins and ancestral Pueblo history this summer. Teachers participating in this opportunity will be awarded $500 for classroom and field trip expenses during the 2018-2019 school year! This funding opportunity is made possible by the Ballantine Family Fund and the McCune Charitable Foundation. The opportunity could potentially be extended to retired teachers.
