Steampunk is defined as a mashup between the Victorian era, gadgetry, and science fiction. Recently on February the 24th Aztec, New Mexico, will played host to the third annual Steampunk Convention. This convention is a major fundraiser for the Good Neighbors Campaign. The Good Neighbors Campaign was started by Cindy Iacovetto to spread neighbor to neighbor kindness throughout our community. The Kindness Campaign is open to all citizens who want to participate and is always in need of more people.

In regards to the Steampunk event, Iacovetto says, "Everybody has a costume in their closet" and she hopes to see as many people participate as possible as the event grows.

With vendors such as the Wines of the San Juan, and belly dancers for entertainment, the event has appeal to all ages. "Steampunk is open to all walks of life and it brings together a diverse group of people" Iacovetto said. There will be many contests for participants to take part in, such as man, women, child, and couple events, in addition to wall art and sculpture contests. This is a great way to get the entire family involved. For more information about the contest rules, the steampunk genre, or the event itself, visit http://www.steamersanddreamers.com for more information.

Iacovetto wants to thank the many sponsors in the community.
