Recently, boy's basketball started at Koogler Middle school. The boys play at Koogler and in other schools around the area such as Shiprock, Kirtland, Bloomfield, and three schools in Farmington. Some of those schools include Heights, Tibbets, and Hermosa Middle School. There are two teams' junior-varsity and varsity. The jv team is all 7th graders, while the varsity team is all 8th graders.

Coach Keith Hamilton says "The boys are unique in that they have had grades issues and injuries so the boys who can play have had to step up." When he was asked who was playing better jv or varsity he responded by saying "Both teams are playing great. But it depends on who they are playing."

Although a large amount of the athletes have been unable to play due to grades and injuries, the team has still been able to pull through with some wins. Nearing the end of the season, the students have been able to bring their grades up to reach eligibility. Which is a 2.5 grade point average. As well as others have to been able to recover from injuries such as concussions.

Recently, Skyler Bouran got a concussion from hitting his head on the court during a basketball game. Due to this, he has been out for over a week, leading him to miss several games and practices. When asked how he felt while watching his fellow teammate's play he said, "I've been watching my team struggle with the loss of many valuable players. Once they recover, our team will come back together."

The Koogler Middle school boy's basketball team have had a rough season, but will make a comeback before the season ends, just in time to make the most of their basin competition. With only a few games left, the team has been practicing harder than ever. They want to finish the season with a bang.
