550 Brewing, owned by the Paschall family, is currently located in the HUB building and is an example of a successful incubator business. City of Aztec Finance Director Kathy Lamb said, “Those guys were brewing beer that they were selling at festivals and the like. Now they have an outlet and they are expanding their customer base.” 550 Brewing pays $1000 a month for the pub space and an upstairs office space.

The Aztec Chamber of Commerce (COC) is currently located within the Aztec HUB at 119 S. Church, and is one of the oldest business groups serving the area. According to Lamb, the Aztec COC currently pays $5,000 per year for HUB space but is negotiating for a new agreement.

A third business benefiting from the HUB is Tethering Ideas/Solar Night Lights, founded by local inventor Pam Gathings. Tethering Ideas is a resource center for local inventors. Gathings is currently a satisfied HUB member. She said, “The HUB has given us a great place to meet and develop our ideas, bring them out of the garage and get them ready for commercial release.” Pam described how she is able to come together with other like-minded inventors from the area. She says her goal is “Bring innovation back to our country. We need a creative revolution! It’s about creating change in our community through invention.” Gathings pays $200 a month for a tenant office at the HUB. Tenants enjoy access to telephones, broadband Internet, computer, copier, and other membership/tenant benefits.
