Very near the top of the list of things I love is our beautiful city of Aztec and our very own community newspaper, TALON. Aztec has always been my home and I have so many memories of growing up here, and of my kids and grandkids growing up here, too. TALON is like one of my children ... I was here for the birth, and have always been here.

With all that being said, I have decided to take a step back from my work at the TALON.

For thirteen years, I held a full time job, but I still added my two-cents worth to every TALON that was published, I just wasn’t out on the front lines. I have made the decision to go back to that role in the paper, and have accepted a full time job that will be more financially responsible for me. In other words, I need to make more money for myself. I’m sure everyone knows that feeling, we’ve all got bills to pay!

I will still be in Aztec, so if anyone really misses me (that’s a joke) you can come visit anytime, I’ll be at Hi Country Chevrolet.

Our community has just started recovering from the worst thing we could ever have imagined in our town. We’ve all heard about the evils of growing up and living in a small town (everyone knows what you are doing, even if you don’t) but we have been shown one of the best parts of small-town living, even if you feel like people get in your business, in a catastrophe like we just had, everyone comes together with love and support. I can’t imagine living anywhere else!

I’ve enjoyed my time working in the TALON office and visiting with those who stop by. Please continue to support our local newspaper, it’s a very important part of Aztec!

I look forward to working with you all in the future.

Debbie Israel, TALON
