On Sunday December 10, 2017 the Tres Rios chapter of the Compassionate Friends (TCF) will hold its 7th annual World Candle Lighting, in conjunction with other chapters around the globe. Held every year on the second Sunday in December, the World Candle Lighting offers families the opportunity to honor and remember the children they've lost and the love that they still have for them. These families know that love doesn't end with death.

On that night at 7 PM in each time zone around the world, candles are lit and burned for an hour. As the candles burn down in one time zone, new ones are lit in the next one, creating a continuous wave of light and love around the world! This moving ceremony unites tens of thousands of bereaved families and friends worldwide in a remembrance of all children who have died, and it is done in a manner that transcends all ethnic, cultural, religious, and political boundaries.

The program is held in the Little Theater of San Juan College, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The recommended parking place is near the clock tower. Please plan on arriving between 6:15 and 6:30.

The program includes readings on memories, love, friendship, courage, and hope and poignant songs by singer/songwriters who are personally familiar with grief.

We will again have the opportunity to create a slide show of our children, so if you wish your child's picture to be included, please email a digital version to Siromani Leath, at: [email protected] and include their name and dates of birth and death.

We also place children's framed photos on the edge of the stage for viewing, so remember to bring one.
