Rosalie Lawson Current

August 25, 1922 - September 20, 2017

Rosalie Lawson Current, 95, of Farmington passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington.

Rosalie was born August 25, 1922 in Aztec, New Mexico, the daughter of Arthur H. Lawson and Emma Rosa Probst Lawson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Eugene R. (Sonny) Current; sister Louisa Oswell; brothers Arthur Lawson, Jr. and Albert McArthur Lawson (died in infancy); and son Eugene "Gene" Lee Current.

She is survived by sons Bill Current and wife Jeannie, and Ernest "Ernie" Ray Current and wife Linda; daughter-in-law Sue Current; sister Betty Waggoner; brother Robert G. Lawson and wife Rosabell; Clora Lawson, wife of the late Art Lawson; 7 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and many dear friends.

Rosalie graduated from high school in 1940. Shortly thereafter, she worked for an attorney in Aztec and for the Aztec Pharmacy. She then went on to business college. Later, she was employed by the OPA for a short while. Rosalie married Sonny Current in 1946 and they had 3 boys. In the 60's Rosalie and Virginia Richardson spearheaded the opening of the very first concession stand to support Little League Baseball on Dustin street. Next she went to Beauty College in Farmington. This led to her opening her own business, "The House Of Beauty" on Ute Street in the early 60's. She made us all beautiful for 50 years.

Rosalie was passionate about gardening, cooking, water color painting, writing the Chicken Speak comic strip series for the TALON newspaper in Aztec, sending out personal painted water color Chicken Speak greeting cards to family and friends, publishing her first Chicken Speak book for little children titled "The Story of Creation and Christianity for Pre-School Children as told by Chickens." And last but certainly not least, Rosalie obtained a "doctorate" in the art of selfless giving and helping others.

Viewing is Sunday, September 24th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 East Ute St., in Farmington.

Funeral services for Rosalie are Monday, September 25th at 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 808 N. Monterey in Farmington with Pastor Brian Adams officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, 1606 N. Dustin Avenue in Farmington.

In lieu of flowers contributions/donations may be made in Rosalie's memory to Connelly House, PO Box 110, Farmington, NM 87499.

Billie Jean Patterson Cook

May 10, 1926 - September 12, 2017

Billie Jean Patterson Cook, loving mother and nana went to her Heavenly home on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at the age of 91. A funeral service for Billie was held Sept. 16, at Cope Memorial Chapel in Aztec. A private burial was at the Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Karen Y. Giovanini

Jan. 13, 1950 - Sept. 15, 2017

Karen Y. Giovanini, 67, of Bloomfield, passed away Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, in Bloomfield. She was born Jan. 13, 1950, in Farmington.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Sept. 20 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomfield.

Helen Janice (Green) Smith

Aug. 18, 1929 - Sept. 7, 2017

Helen Janice (Green) Smith was born August 18, 1929 to Charley and Edna (Smith) Green at Hereford, TX. She passed away Sept. 7, 2017. She was 88 years old.

She married John Eldon Smith on May 26, 1950 at Clovis, NM.

She is survived by a son, Eldon Leon Smith of Las Vegas; and daughters Edalynn Schlegel of Aztec, Myrna Fournier of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and Myra Severtson of Alamagordo, NM; eight grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She also leaves a sister, Virginia Gianinni and brother Charles Green.

Helen was an amazing woman known for her warmth and generosity to all who knew her. She lived a full life, working for the State of NM as a meat inspector until her retirement. She also volunteered for a number of organizations including the Alamogordo Senior Center and her church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Bruce Salisbury

There will be a memorial service on Sept. 22 from 1-3 PM at the Alamogordo Funeral Home to celebrate her life. Family and friends welcome those who wish to pay their respects to this light gone from our word, but never forgotten.

Bruce Lee Salisbury

Bruce Lee Salisbury MSGT USAF passed away September 18, 2017. He is survived by his wife Dottie Salisbury of 65 years; sons William Lee Salisbury and Bruce Allan Salisbury; daughter Winona Dee Salisbury; two grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

He is survived by brothers Charles Salisbury and George Salisbury; and sisters Linda Creed and Annie Phelps. He is being laid to rest on September 22 @ 1:00 pm at the Colorado State Veterans Center at Homelake in Monte Vista, Colorado. Flowers can be sent to Homelake.
