Talon News - Good Local News

While perusing information on the Telluride Blues and Brews Festival, held annually on September 15-17, http://www.tellurideblues.com, the website states “The United States uses roughly 50 billion plastic water bottles a year, and nearly 80% of them end up in a land fill.” To put those statistics into perspective, 1500 plastic water bottles are consumed every second across the United States! From the eyes of an ol’ Colorado Native, if the Telluride Blues and Brews Festival says no to single-use plastic water bottles, the rest of the world should just follow the music. With sustainable festival communities in mind, the Aztec Talon is committed to helping our northern neighbors provide grassroots advocacy for minimizing waste, consumption and reducing energy usage, while at the same time, offering increased awareness, education, and advocacy for a more sustainable, “green” festival experience.

Here are 7 simple festivarian tips:

• Be considerate, kind and smile • Be careful with fire

• Hydrate using multi-use containers • Practice a “sharing is caring” attitude

• Car pool, bike and/or walk • Get to know the amazing TBB recycle volunteers
