Change of Command

Navy Lieutenant Commander J. Jacob Saiz, a 1995 graduate of Aztec High School, recently participated in a Change of Command Ceremony at Ft. Bliss, Texas. Saiz has done three tours in the Persian Gulf and has now been relieved as Commanding Officer and will be flying big jets. Saiz has less than five years left in the Navy and will spend that time stationed out of Ft. Worth, TX, flying Navy Transports (Boeing 737s) all over the world, according to his dad, Johnn Saiz, of Aztec. In high school, Saiz was a champion wrestler and attended NMSU on a Wrestling scholarship. At NMSU he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. After NMSU, he attended Officer Candidate School, Aviation Pre-Indoctrination in Pensacola Fl, and flight training in Corpus Christi, TX. He received his wings in July of 2002.

Lieutenant Saiz's awards and decorations include the Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal and numerous other unit and campaign awards.
