From the Aztec Museum

September 1, 2017

The Valet Auto Strop Safety Razor was patented in 1912 and was among the first safety razors to hit the market. The safety razor was an instant hit because it featured disposable blades that did not require sharpening like the traditional straight razor. The case features a sticker reading "Aztec Independent, Aztec, New Mexico," indicating that the razor dates between 1914-1932, when that newspaper was operating. Today it is on display in the Aztec Museum's Barbershop exhibit alongside many items from Ray Current's Barbershop which operated on Main Ave for over 50 years.
