Member of the Aztec community showed up by the hundreds to help celebrate National Night Out on July 18. Minium Park was full of vendors handing out freebies, and people who came to let the bad guys know that they aren't welcome in our town. The event is sponsored by the Aztec Police Department, City of Aztec and TALON. Attendees were entertained by Native American dancers, live music, drummers, carnival rides for little ones, and, the BIG EVENT - the Donut Eating Contest. Kids bicycles and safety helmets were also raffled off, and lots of young boys and girls went home with hew bicycles. APD Police Chief Mike Heal said, "We had a fantastic turnout. I'm so glad the community supported it so well."
