Aztec seems to be known for it's softball talent and this year has been no different. Aztec Flash, a Four Corners 10-U Fastpitch softball team, has made it all the way to State competition in Carlsbad, NM. The journey was long and it wasn't always easy. Coach Ashley Phillips points out "Our girls practice hard five days a week and have dedicated themselves to softball." They hold a season record of 11-0 and a total of 171 points scored with only twenty points allowed. Although Flash has played together for five years now, aside from a few new additions, these young ladies are only nine and ten years old.

Where does that passion, that love of the game come from? Somebody is getting these girls to and from practice right? Maybe two or three someone's who also grew up practicing hard and dedicating themselves to softball? Coaches Ashley Phillips, Jenifer Watts and Ericah Boyd grew up playing softball together and even hold a 2005 AHS State Championship win on their records. Now they get to continue that tradition with their girls. The coaches have daughters, nieces and friends on their team and "couldn't be prouder of this group of girls" as stated by coach Phillips.

The Flash Family will road trip to Carlsbad on July 6th, and play their first game on July 7th where they will battle it out among 24 other teams from Texas and New Mexico. The coaches would like to thank their amazing fans, sponsors and anyone else who has helped to make Flash a success. Good luck ladies!
