7,700 pounds of food collected

Thanks to Aztec and surrounding areas, the Aztec Methodist Church received over 7,700 lbs of food for the food bank. This was collected by the Aztec Post Office at their annual Food Drive on May 13.

This is the fourth year that students from the Mosaic Academy have helped to sort and stock the shelves at the church. When asked about their day, one of the students said, “It was the best field trip ever.” Another said, “It was knowing we helped people who needed help.”

The church would like to thank the postal carriers who collected the food; Mike at Safeway for supplying the paper bags that went out ahead of time to the post office patrons announcing the drive; Pepsi Cola for donating cases of water and soda to keep the volunteers going; Dorie Marshall and the church for organizing pizza and sandwiches for the volunteers; and of course all of the volunteers who worked so hard for us in the food pantry.

A special thanks to Pastor Jeff Symonds who has been sharing with us every year the importance of outreach to the community.
