100 DAYS AND NIGHTS OF SUMMER

DWI Checkpoints throughout the county

The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with other law enforcement agencies, will be conducting extra DWI enforcement activities during the month of June. There are planned DWI saturation patrols and DWI checkpoints throughout the county to help combat DWI offenses. Deputies will actively seek out traffic violations, concentrating on those indicative of intoxicated driving. The extra enforcement efforts will take place in locations identified as having an increased number of DWI arrests, alcohol-related crashes and/or reports of intoxicated drivers. We will also be participating in the 100 Days and Nights of Summer campaign, which begins June 23, 2017, and runs through September 30, 2017.

We urge people to have designated drivers if they choose to drink alcohol.

We strongly believe in the importance of saving lives through proactive strategies and we encourage citizens to take an active role in their community and report suspected drunk drivers by calling 911.
