The Tigers baseball team’s bid to make it to the second round of the state tournament in Albuquerque fell short in the best of three series against the Santa Teresa Desert Warriors. The Tigers seemed to be on a roll in the on Friday night stomping the Desert Warriors 8-0 taking the win in the first game of the series, which meant Tigers only needed to win one game on Saturday to head to Albuquerque. The Desert Warriors had different plans and came up with a win in the second game of the series on Saturday with a commanding 13-8 win over the Tigers and forced a third game. It was do or die for both teams in the third game and the Tigers just couldn’t seem to catch a break or get anything going on the bases to overcome the Desert Warriors. The Desert Warriors took the third game 8-4 and earned a spot in the second round of the state tournament.
