Howdy partner! On Friday, May 5 McCoy Elementary School had their "Cowboy Day." It was a full day of fun activities for all the kids. They had stick horse races, roped a bale of hay (it was a cow), threw horseshoes, and had bouncy ball races. They had a place where the kids could roast their own marshmallows to make s'mores. There were older kids helping the kindergartners with the roping.

There were 8 kids helping with the roping; Carlie Pacheco, Emma Wood, Codi Reed, Tempe Pacheco, Cami Reed, Natalie Larabe, Calvin Harris, and Clint Wood. Becky Archuleta and Juliette Goimarak started "Cowboy Day" about ten years ago. They were teaching the students about the Wild West and decided to finish up the unit with Cowboy Day. It's been going ever since. Usually they have animals in the celebration but this year the animals were a no-show.

At 11:00 the kids got treated with a BBQ. For lunch they had hot dogs, hamburgers, beans, chips, watermelon and lemonade. They set up canopies outside along with a grill. The cooks for the event were Ryan Snoops and Laura Johnson ( Laura is the manager of the cafeteria). There were several ladies to help serve the food. All children in the school got to participate in the BBQ. It was really nice watching the kids having such fun!
