Phil Lane, Thomas Williams, Alvin Harvey, Austin Varbel and Kyle Edgerton

New Mexico State University engineering students from Aztec spent three days successfully competing in the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Design Build Fly competition held in Tucson, Arizona. Over 90 colleges and universities were selected to participate in the three day testing program.

Philip Lane, 2014 Aztec High School graduate, will receive his pilots license in June and plans to spend his summer engineering internship at Virgin Galactic Spaceport America near Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Thomas Williams, 2014 Aztec High School graduate is majoring in Mechanical Engineering at NMSU. He plans to work on campus this summer while continuing his studies.

Alvin Harvey, 2014 Aztec High School graduate, was awarded a summer engineering internship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, Massachusetts. Alvin will receive his private pilots license in June.

Austin Varbel, graduated from Aztec High School in 2013 and is a Mechanical Engineering Major at NMSU. Austin will start a six month bridge inspection internship in June with the New Mexico Department of Transportation.

Kyle Edgerton, graduated from Aztec High in 2013. He is an Aerospace Engineering student at NMSU. Kyle will receive his pilots license in June and intern for a second summer at the NASA Research Center in Langley, Virginia.
