Mary Jane Macmanus, 93, a former longtime resident of Aztec, died Tuesday, April 25, 2017, in San Marcos, Texas, with her devoted son Boyd (Bo) Macmanus and his wife Elena at her side. Mary Jane was a descendant of early settlers (Abrams and Pinkstaff) and was born on March 31, 1924, in Durango, Colorado, to Boyd Abrams and Rhoda (Pinkstaff), lifetime residents of Aztec. Her father Boyd was a pharmacist for Hoopes Pharmacy and a Justice of the Peace while her mother Rhoda was a homemaker. Mary Jane met Michael Joseph Macmanus (Mike), her husband and father of her three children while studying to be a nurse during WWII. After the war, for a time, they raised their family in Aztec, where they owned and operated a laundry at the corner of Main and Chaco until the family moved to Raymondville, Texas, in 1961. Jane lived in Raymondville until moving to San Marcos in 2014 to live with her son Bo and his wife Elena, who lovingly cared for her until her death. Jane, as she was best known, was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. A strong Catholic, she was very active in St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Raymondville. When she was not busy with her family, friends, or church, she was an avid bridge player. Jane is preceded in death by her sister Zelda McWilliams of Aztec, her brother Bud Abrams of Klamath Falls Oregon, and grandson Sean Campbell of Aztec. She is survived by her sister Norma Waggoner of Portland, Oregon, sons Michael Joseph Macmanus, Jr. (Karen) of Plano, Texas; Boyd (Bo) Macmanus (Elena) of San Marcos, Texas; and daughter Gerry A.
