AHS STUDENT EXPELLED OVER SNAPCHAT STORY

Story interpreted as threat

In recent news, a local Aztec teen has been expelled in wake of posting a controversial snapchat story. On Easter Sunday, Tyler Clements, a freshmen at Aztec High School posted a picture with a gun on his snapchat with the caption “Don’t come to school tomorrow.” Many interpreted this as a threat to attack the school and its students. A Farmington teen who chose to stay anonymous notified the police in fear that the threat was real. When asked about the situation, Clements explained that it was nothing more than a joke, and he never had any intention at all of actually going through with a heinous act. Through a search of the teen’s residence, the police concluded there was no evidence of any planning. After a hearing with the school board, it was decided that the teen was to be expelled, and return to school next year in August.
