FISHING REPORT

 

Abiquiu Lake: Fishing was good using grubs, swim baits, crank baits and tubes for smallmouth bass. Fishing for walleye was slow to fair using minnows, swim baits and grubs. We had no other reports.

Animas River: Water flow near Aztec on Monday morning was 1,010 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Cochiti Lake: Fishing was fair to good using jerk baits, crank baits, swim baits and spinner baits for smallmouth bass.

Fenton Lake: Fishing was very good using garlic PowerBait, Fire Balls, Kastmasters, Panther Martins and Pistol Petes for trout.

Heron Lake: Bank fishing was fair using PowerBait for rainbow trout. We had no other reports. Both boat ramps are now open.

Jackson Lake: Fishing was slow for all species.

Lake Farmington: Nonmotorized watercraft are now allowed on Lake Farmington. Fees are $50 for the season or $5 daily. We had no reports from anglers.

Navajo Lake: Fishing was fair using senkos, grubs, swim baits and crank baits for smallmouth bass. Fishing for crappie was fair for anglers using small tubes and grubs. We had no other reports.

San Juan River: Stream flow from Navajo Reservoir on Monday was 1,010 cfs. The spring release begins May 3 and flows will ramp up to 5,000 cfs over approximately 16 days. This flow is scheduled to last about 35 days and then ramp back down to 500 cfs. Trout fishing through the quality waters was fair using red larva, wooly buggers, root beers, red annelids and RS2s. Fishing through the bait waters was fair to good using night crawlers, PowerBait, salmon eggs and jerk baits.
