San Juan County would like to remind all those who live and work on the San Juan River that the Bureau of Reclamation will begin the Navajo Reservoir Spring Peak Release ramp up Wednesday, May 3, 2017.

In order to prevent potential damage from high flows, the Bureau of Reclamation (BOR) will be working with local agencies to coordinate a 2 to 3 week ramp up to 5,000 cubic feet per second (cfs). The ramp up is intended to clean the river channel and reduce the impact of the high flow (5,000 cfs), according to the BOR-Navajo Reservoir web site.

The site further advises that current projections point to a 35 day release at 5,000 cfs and a 12 day ramp down to 500 cfs.
