NM School for the Arts

April 21, 2017

New Mexico School for the Arts Visual Art Seniors will present their final exhibition, “ambivalence,” May 5th-21st, 2017 at the Santa Fe Community Gallery, 201 West Marcy St. Santa Fe, NM 87501.

The title of the show nods to the artist’s process when pursuing a work. The conflict of interests pulls and pushes an artist in opposite directions until ultimately a choice is made and the work comes to fruition. This contrast can also be seen between the many concepts and explorations in each artist’s project and amongst the group as a whole.

The participating artists in this exhibition are Juliana Chavez, Maixx Culver-Haggins, Jaren DuBois, Devon Ewy, Hans Frauenglass, Ezri Horne, Erin Ice-Johnson, Adan Martinez, Alicia Stewart, Sienna Sullivan-Ginn, and True Overlie. These eleven students have created self-proposed works of art as the summation of their fine arts training at NMSA. Ambivalence will feature work in installation, sculpture, pottery, fiber, drawing, film, animation, new media, and painting. These artists hail from across the state of New Mexico and have attended the school for the entirety of their high school careers. In addition to the individual projects, a time capsule from a two-year collaboration between these students, artist Dario Robleto, and SITE Santa Fe will be on display.
