Last week the first two games the Tiger Baseball team played were not on the Tigers' best performance list. The Shiprock Chieftains came away with the win 7-2 on Tuesday April 4 and the Rio Rancho Rams took the game and ran over the Tigers 12-2 on Thursday April 6. In both of the losses the Tigers couldn't get the bats going at the right time to score runs and had mistakes in the field that both the Chieftains and Rams took advantage of.

All that was wiped away on Saturday, April 8, when the Tigers started district play against the Kirtland Broncos. The game was originally slotted for Friday, but after both teams were ready to play ball, the umpires were a no show due to a scheduling conflict, so the game was moved to Saturday. The game started off close as both teams went run for run for the first two innings to keep the score tied at two, then the Tigers broke it wide open in the third inning scoring six runs and adding another nine in the fourth inning. The Tigers capitalized on some Broncos errors and played clean to come away with the win 18-3 to start off district play. District play will be in full swing this week as the Tigers host Bloomfield Bobcats on Tuesday, April 11, and the Farmington Scorpions on Thursday April 13 at 4. The Tigers will travel to Gallup to take on the Bengals on Saturday April 15 at 11.
