PUBLIC INVITED TO HOMEGROWN FOOD RETREAT

Growing Partners of Southwest Colorado is hosting the 2017 Homegrown Food Retreat in Ignacio on April 8 at the ELHI Community Center from 9am-3pm. There is a $20 suggested donation, and lunch and coffee will be served. The keynote speaker will be Chef M. Karlos Baca

Chef M. Karlos Baca is the founder of Taste of Native Cuisine, an Indigenous chef cooperative, created in connection with the Southern Ute Cultural Center & Museum in 2011 to help revitalize Native food traditions through education, foraging, and Indigenous tasting menus. Karlos’ talk, Full Circle: An Indigenous Foods Tale, will cover the topics of food warfare, loss of tradition, ancestral memory, modern Indigenous foodways, and a message from the Earth.
