Navajo Lake is a destination for thousands of people during the summer months, and now you'll have more to look forward to.

Construction at the marina is going on now, and plans include a new convenience/ship store that will be three times the size of the current store - a larger, expanded store with more items to offer. According to Jarrett Johnson, president of Navajo Dam Enterprises, Inc., there will also be a new gas dock/boat rental building, and 21 additional courtesy slips to provide more boat parking. There will a restaurant with outdoor patio dining, a splash pad for the kiddos, and a free fishing hole. The fishing hole will be open to everyone during business hours, which will be 6 am to 10 pm during the summer. They've also added two new 100' slips, and 12 new 26' covered slips for those who like to leave their boats in the water.

The new construction area is 6500 square feet located on a half acre floating platform. There will be a stone and stucco facade on the buildings.

"We will have our occupancy permit on May 15, and we will be open for Memorial Day," Johnson said. Memorial Day falls on May 29 this year and is always a big weekend at Navajo.

Johnson, along with his partner Margaret Vandervalk purchased the business almost four years ago and are looking forward to the expanded services they will offer. They plan a grand opening in the near future.
