Leadership New Mexico

February 24, 2017

Leadership New Mexico is pleased to announce that the following leaders from Aztec are among the 25 leaders from 15 communities across the state selected to participate in the 2016-2017 Leadership New Mexico Program: Jim Crowley, County Commissioner, San Juan County; John Kuhn, Chief Deputy County Assessor, San Juan County; and Tanya Shelby, County Clerk, San Juan County. This is the fifteenth class for the Leadership New Mexico Core Program.

The Local Government Leadership Program is an educational partnership between the New Mexico Association of Counties, the New Mexico Municipal League, the New Mexico School Boards Association and Leadership New Mexico. These organizations joined together to provide a unique educational experience to county and municipal officials, school board members, members of the New Mexico National Guard and regional councils of governments.

The Local Government Leadership Program curriculum is patterned after Leadership New Mexico’s Core Program, and is designed to provide local leaders the opportunity to explore the critical issues facing New Mexico and participate in skill-building workshops. The program seeks to prepare local officials with the background and knowledge necessary to undertake their civic responsibility and instill in them a passion for effective and ethical public service.
