CRISIS INTERVENTION TRAINING

First of its kind

February 24, 2017

San Juan County Sheriff's Office hosted the first basic 40-hour Crisis Intervention Training in San Juan County. This class was made possible by donations from San Juan Regional Medical Center.

The class is the first of its kind in our area and focuses on helping people in crisis or with a mental health diagnosis. It provides Law Enforcement and other government agencies the skills to recognize and deescalate situations to help prevent violent encounters. It is a very intense 40-hour class which incorporates professional actors which are brought in from all over the country.

All members of the Mental Health Task Group are dedicated to improving the relationship between people in crisis, medical providers, and law enforcement.
